Professional immigration and relocation often raise a lot of questions, on this page we have gathered the questions that we get asked the most often with their answers.

Q: Where do you operate?
A: Our headquarters are in the Helsinki region, but in addition to the capital area we also have offices in Tampere, Salo (Turku), Oulu and Jyväskylä. However, we operate nation wide if needed as agreed!

Q: I want a job in Finland, can you help me?
A: We’re thrilled that you want to move to Finland, and propose that you look at the TE-office and other job-search sites for a position that is right for you. Once you have a job, we would be more than happy to help you move to and settle in Finland.

Q: I want to move to Finland permanently for work, do I need a residence permit?
A: Yes, if you intend to work in Finland, you need a residence permit granted by the state of Finland. A work contract or job offer is needed in order to be able to apply for a permit

Q: I have received a permanent job offer from Finland and I have a residence permit from another Schengen Country, do I still need a residence permit to Finland
A: Yes you do, in some cases it is sufficient that you have a residence permit from another Schengen country, but the right to work is limited and it applies for a maximum of 90 days. If your job in Finland is due to last for more than three months you have to acquire a Finnish permit.

Q: I am an EU citizen, do I need a residence permit?
A: No, but local immigration matters are required also from EU nationals when the stay in Finland is planned for long enough.

Q: I will be moving to Finland to work there and I have a family that I want to bring with me. Can they move to Finland as well?
A: In principal yes, your immediate family may apply for the Finnish Residence Permit to  join you in Finland. However, all permit decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. We at FRS are pleased to assist also with family members’ application processes.
